Monstrous Femme

Monstrous Femme

Whether you’re a witchy woman, gothic gay, unlikable female protagonist, queer quiller, rebellious goddess, fabulous feminist freak, bedazzled pride flag in human form, feisty fae king, weirdo writer, triumphant antiheroine, campy villain, scream queen, final girl, or monster maven, you’ve come to the right place. Monstrous Femme beckons and beguiles all kinds of creatures, be they cute or blood-curdling, and you too are encouraged to unleash your inner beast.

We’re a horror magazine created by women and queer people, for women and queer people, about women and queer people. Our goal is to publish fiction and creative nonfiction that pushes boundaries and challenges norms: strange stories and nightmarish narratives that tell the tales of complicated, multi-faceted, occasionally monstrous female and/or LGBTQIA+ people. Here you’ll find creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky short stories, as well as raw, riveting personal essays that are startlingly frank and fearless. We also offer reviews of horror content, specifically content that features women and/or LGBTQIA+ people, or which has something to say about gender and sexuality—whether it’s a movie, show, book, or video game.

We’re here to be queer, monstrously femme, and witchy and bitchy. Join our writers as they take you on a moonlit, midnight stroll through a haunted mansion. All horror whores are welcome to tag along.
